Pretty enough to appear on the pages of Country Living magazine in 2018, this Grade-II listed Georgian cottage has been designed by artist and photographer Christina Wilson. Her creative touch is seen in every corner, from the artist's shed in the garden to the photographic prints and patterned tiles on the walls. Originally two properties that have been joined together, there's ample space for gathering the group together, but also plenty of quiet spaces for a quiet moment. Pull a book out from the library, curl up by the log-burner in the TV room, or relax in the garden room. On warm days, it only takes six minutes to reach the Suffolk coastline at Covehithe Beach and it's even quicker to get to Benacre National Natural Reserve – though, with an outdoor area landscaped by an RHS award-winning designer, we won't blame you if sunny afternoons are spent meandering between the glass-roofed terrace, cute summer house and flower-filled pathways that link them up.

Home truths

There's a private parking space at the end of the garden, as well as space directly outside the house

The home is not suitable for children under the age of two

All the bedrooms and main bathroom are on the first floor, so it might not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility

One dog is allowed at any time at an additional cost of £20

There's a shop and pub in the surrounding village of Wrentham

Those sleeping in the twin bedroom have to go through another bedroom to reach the bathroom

The home is next to a fairly busy road, but we found the home to be quiet

What makes Southwold Pier different is its arcade of humorous, quirky, coin-operated machines. Created by the inventor Tim Hunkin, they feature a range of eccentric – and...
