Days here are all about soaking up the endless Barbados sunshine. Whether you're sipping rum cocktails on the palm-covered patio, snorkelling in the reef right off the garden or strolling along the sandy beach five minutes away, this home has everything you need and more – even the bright and bold interior feels like a serene oasis. And, if you're travelling in a group, the cottage can be booked together with the main villa next door to accommodate larger parties. It's a slice of tropical paradise that's entirely yours to call home.

As the Tide Rolls In

Right down on the sands of popular Mullins Beach, this Bajan beauty is just a few feet from the sea. A traditional beach house with two glorious sun decks, this place has been designed to focus on the view. Step out of your cool, comfortable living room and enjoy your breakfast on the covered dining terrace, with the waves lapping at the shore just beneath. There's no pool here, but that's because you really couldn't get any closer to the water – head off for daily swims in the clear blue of the Caribbean and dry off in the sun on one of your loungers. The interior is modern and minimal, with a weathered, vintage look to the 'pickled' wood ceilings. There's a contemporary kitchen for you to rustle up snacks and drinks but thanks to your housekeeper/cook you won't have to worry too much about cooking – you'll have two delicious meals per day provided. The second bedroom is full of island charm, with beamed ceilings, shutters and French doors opening to the lower deck, while the stunning master bedroom upstairs has vaulted ceilings, a superb en-suite and its own private elevated sun deck with panoramic sea views. It's easy to forget you’re on an island known for its activity and nightlife with all this natural beauty on your doorstep, but there are all sorts of water sports to get involved with from the beach, and you can walk to a number of beach bars and restaurants.

Captain's Deck

A delightful home for a single traveller or a couple, this cosy little gem is set overlooking the crystal-clear waters of Reeds Bay. Close to a number of bars and restaurants, there's plenty going on nearby but you'll feel tucked away and private in this first-floor condo. With a Mediterranean feel to the decor, it's a smart, bright space that makes the most of its stunning views. White walls and tiled floors keep everything cool, and the living room opens up to a spacious covered balcony, with plenty of comfortable seating, a big dining table and your own plunge pool. Even the bedroom has its own terrace. What's more, here you'll have a housekeeper/cook, who will prepare two meals for you per day, so there's no need to lift so much as a finger. And best of all, it's just steps from the beach and water that's perfect for snorkelling. 

Turtle Nest

Found within the exclusive Royal Westmoreland Golf Resort, this Caribbean villa is intimate and indulgent. You’ll be torn between reclining in the elegant interiors or soaking up the sun beside the shimmering plunge pool. And when it’s impossible to choose, the covered terrace makes for a perfect compromise. We could spend all day on those squashy rattan loungers, rum cocktail in hand, watching the ocean roll towards the sprawling lush lawns. Should you want to get closer to the water, the Beach Club at Mullins Bay is only five minutes away by car. Here, you can snorkel among tropical fish in the impossibly clear shallows or lie back on those chalk-soft sands and drift off on the Bajan breeze. What’s more, you’ve got access to the world-class golf course, tennis courts and fitness centre—you’ll never have a dull day in paradise.

Coconut & Pineapple

Beach-adjacent and with barefoot lux written all over it, this villa fully embraces its position on the south coast of Barbados. The soft white sand of Silver Sands Beach is mere footsteps away and there are a handful of laid back beach bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Fringed by lush botanica, the corner infinity pool juts out towards the sea, competing for the deepest shade of blue. Three tiers of shaded verandas, balconies and a crowning rooftop terrace provide ample space to laze on loungers in the sun or sit back with a glass of something cool under the hum of a ceiling fan. The outdoor sofas and dining tables are just a plush as indoors, where a huge corner seating area is decked with driftwood sculptures and seashell trinkets. Not that we need a reminder of the ocean – the house has been designed to take in views to the horizon at every opportunity. Especially from the master bedroom with its wall of windows opening up to a wrap-around balcony where a macrame hammock swings in the breeze. Both other bedrooms have their own outdoor seating areas, so there’s no need to draw straws. It’s all about making the most of the sun and sea here.

Coral & Starfish

Turquoise-aqua waters and powdery white sand beaches — it must be the Caribbean. A stone's throw from the ocean — quite literally in this case — this beach house on the west coast of Barbados makes for an idyllic and easy-going seafront stay. It's quite easy to imagine soaking up the sun on your own beachfront deck and gazing into endless ocean vistas while sipping piña coladas on the loungers. Inside, the pickled-wood ceilings and whitewashed walls create a refreshing space to unwind with a chilled drink, but with an abundance of outdoor space — whether you're waking up to iced coffees on the master bedroom balcony or sliding open the French doors to eat breakfast beside the sea — this home is really geared towards relaxing with the salty breeze on your face and nothing but the gentle sound of the ocean in the background. Life In The Slow Lane

Set amongst the whispering palms of the Caribbean, this ultra-luxurious seafront estate comes with its own private beach and a staff of fourteen to cater for your group. It’s a dreamlike place, filled with sunlight, tropical gardens and glimpses of the perfect blue ocean. The main house itself was built in the 1840s, then redesigned by stage designer Oliver Messel in the 1960s before her current owners restored her to her former glory in 2013. They made full use of local materials, artisans and Messel’s signature decorative motifs, incorporating coral stone and pineapple and seashell frescos. Artworks have been commissioned, billowing linen curtains and four-poster beds installed and verdant gardens preened. The result is a beautifully sophisticated Caribbean retreat that’s perfect for a large group. You’ll feel utterly pampered here with a team of chefs presenting delicious meals to suit any occasion – that could be a grand candlelit dinner in the ornate dining portico overlooking the sea, a relaxed lunch around the almond tree on the patio or a picnic down on the sands. This is a real Caribbean gem, with history and character, as well as picture perfect views – it simply doesn't get better than this. 

Marine Whisper

Pure crystalline energy transmits a quality of radiance through this spectacular beachfront villa. It’s difficult to know where to begin when describing this paradise home. But we know you’ll be glowing with glee as soon as you step foot onto its grounds. Created by legendary designer Oliver Messel in the 1960s, the house has since been restored while retaining the exquisite charm of its origins. A magical atmosphere permeates its setting and invites you to let go and soak in the serenity of the space. Drawing on the exquisite beauty of the environment, the home features ocean tones and island-inspired details. There are multiple living areas, each with its own character to enjoy and relax whilst gazing into the gardens or across the sea. The essence of luxury flows through the home and fills every room with pure elegance. In the bedrooms, the light and spacious interiors have been designed for ultimate comfort, while en-suite bathrooms are filled with all the luxurious amenities you could need for a revitalising stay. Ideal for large groups or families, the house has a wonderful staff of 14 who will ensure you have everything you need for a truly unforgettable experience. Outside, a stunning infinity pool looks out across the Carribean Sea. When you aren’t lounging here, wind your way down the stone pathways to the secluded cove beach where the glistening ocean awaits. While it might be hard to leave this paradise, it is in a great location with an abundance of natural wonders to explore, as well as the vibrant cafes, shops and restaurants of Speightstown. Turquoise Bay

On the famous southern shores of this beautiful island, known for their surfing spots and their cooling sea breezes, this elegant coastal home looks out across the Atalntic Ocean. With plenty of space for a large group, and a basement apartment adding flexibility, it's a blend of traditional West Indian villa – we're talking shuttered windows, ceiling fans, whitewashed beamed ceilings and wood floors – and all the modern luxuries you could need. The main kitchen has been fully kitted-out for cooking at home and there's a games room with something to keep everybody entertained. Flowing naturally out onto a huge covered terrace, you'll have an outdoor lounge and dining area leading out to a stunning inifinty pool and pretty clifftop gardens. The clear ocean waters are just steps away and some of the island's best restaurants, night clubs and gorgeous white sandy beaches are within easy reach. The popular kitsurfing spot of Rescue Beach is just a short walk away.

Southpoint Surf

The turquoise shallows of the Caribbean lap at bone-white sand just beyond the terrace of this Bajan hideaway. A set of steps lead from the back garden to the soft sand of Gibbes Beach, and sea views can be seen from bedroom balconies and terraces. Float in the lagoon pool to the sound of waves and dine under the gazebo as white yachts cut across the horizon before you. The house itself is designed, plantation-style, by architect Larry Warren and makes the most of Barbados’ balmy climate. The living and dining room has a wall of arched doorways, opening up to an ocean view wrap-around terrace furnished with rocking chairs, coffee tables and sun loungers. The classy kitchen is a chef’s dream with its huge range-style cooker, wall-sized fridge and walk-in pantry, though a private chef is available to cook all your meals if you wish. Sunsets here are legendary, and with a dedicated bar between the kitchen and living room, there’s no better place for a sundowner. 

Hemingway's Dream

The ideal spot for a little paradise getaway, this Barbados haven ticks all the boxes. Nestled next to Dover beach, this two-storey apartment is filled with tranquil artwork and beautifully elegant furnishings to ensure that you feel completely at home. A Caribbean feel is tastefully created in each room with natural materials and beach-theme accents. Step out of the ground floor bedroom, onto the patio and you can sit with your morning cuppa and your holiday read as the sun warms your skin. For a little respite from the heat, head through the gardens to the communal pool where the cool waters will be a welcome relief. For those who prefer to stay active rather than enjoy a laid-back holiday vibe, there’s an on-site fitness centre, so you can even squeeze in a workout.

If you can tear yourself away from the pool, pack your beach bag and take the short stroll to the white sands of Dover beach for an afternoon of sipping cocktails and watching watersports. While you may choose to indulge in the famous St Lawrence Gap to enjoy some local cuisine and nightlife aplenty, if you fancy heading home, a tranquil sea-view balcony awaits – all you need is a bottle of wine and some nibbles to share.
