Even though it sits among one of Barcelona's most bustling districts, there's something innately relaxing about the space, whether you're listening to a vinyl record with a breeze blowing in over the Juliet balcony or enjoying a meal cooked with locally bought ingredients on the round dining table.

Fabulously located in the heart of Eixample, within easy walking distance of many of Barcelona's key sights, with a beautiful living space full of lovely period details and a spacious master-bedroom with its own private terrace, this home is a delight. Bedrooms two and three are both extremely small, but we won't hold this against an otherwise fab home. The living space might just be home to the most beautiful flooring in the Plum Collection – we are obsessed!

Housed in a 19th century listed building, raised above the quiet pedestrian streets of the central El Born district, you’ll find this authentic Catalan apartment. We love the curated mix of antique pieces and minimalist furniture. The vaulted ceilings and original Juliet balconies create a lofty, airy feel to this space. Take the flight of stairs up to the top of this handsome building and you’ll find a hidden secret – an impressive shared sun terrace, the perfect spot for sundowners before heading out for authentic tapas. And you’re in the right neighbourhood to do so. The surrounding streets are archetypical of El Born - Barcelona’s ‘It’ neighbourhood, don’t you know. You’re only two minutes from heaps of trendy bars, coffee shops, and independent boutiques, as well as the imposing Basilica of Santa Maria Del Mar. Start your day with a spot of people watching at an outdoor café before heading on to one of the many sights located nearby.  The lively streets of Plaça Catalunya, Les Rambles, and the Gothic Quarter are all just a fifteen-minute walk away – as is the city’s sandy beach. The central location of this convenient address is a great asset and if this is your first visit to Barcelona – it doesn't get much better than this. Enjoy being within walking distance of all the best shops, restaurants, and cultural sights including Casa Batllo and Gaudi's other spectacular works of art (a ten-minute walk away). With so much to see and do nearby, catching some respite from the city is easy here – as a soothing colour palette with calming wood tones and soft furnishings create a space boasting comfort and practicality. Sink into the plush "L" shaped sofa with a cup of tea, before running a bath and unwinding for a quiet night at home. For evenings when you're feeling most energised, lap up the ease of going on nights out too – it would be rude not to make the most of being able to walk out here after all. This apartment is on one of Barcelona's most fashionable boulevards, close to Las Ramblas and the late-night tapas bars of the Gothic Quarter. Passeig de Gràcia with its shops, restaurants and bars, is just a five-minute walk away. There’s a sense of old-world grandeur inside thanks to chandeliers and corniced ceilings, in keeping with the historic building. The apartment is family-sized, but might feel cramped at capacity with three in one bedroom and two on the sofa bed in the living room. Balconies off the living room and one of the bedrooms face Rambla Catalunya – perfect for people-watching.

In a traditional building, recently modernised with eco-conscious touches, this character apartment is set between the El Born and Eixample neighbourhoods. With sustainability in mind, the hosts have hand-picked recycled wood for the quirky kitchen cabinets, along with things like vintage glasses and upcycled armchairs. The mini-bar with local eco soaps, toothbrushes, beers, wine and juices is a nice touch and there's nothing like stepping out onto your little balcony, glass in hand, and taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant area. Bedrooms are calm and quiet, and all the more beautiful thanks to their Catalan tiled floors, high ceilings and tall windows. But our favourite thing about this charming place is the hosts, who live in an apartment on the top floor and are welcoming and knowledgeable. They'll look after your bags before or after checkout, welcome you with a local breakfast and even allow you to use their beautiful roof terrace from time to time – where you can see across the city to the sea.

Reclaimed Dream

Two balconies – one at the front and one at the back of this apartment – provide beautiful views of the neighbourhood and you can even see a little bit of the sea on sunny days. Up on the top floor, natural light floods the rooms. The open living space in soft grey and teal velvet is particularly sunny. Glass doors lead out to the front terrace where waxy green banana leaves sprout from planters and dining is set for four. There’s a lazy hammock in the corner too, so you can take in that rooftop view all the way to the Sagrada Familia. You'll be able to plan your holiday from the comfort of the terrace as Barcelona spreads like a map before you. Located only minutes away from Plaça Catalunya, you'll have easy access to all parts of the city.

Just eight minutes from the Plaça de Catalunya on foot, this renovated home boasts a central location in the heart of Barcelona. You'll find it in the Eixample, tucked away in an elegant alleyway and offering a quiet refuge from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you're surrounded by a delightful array of boutiques and eateries and within walking distance of the main sights. Go shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, picnic in Ciutadella Park or marvel at the Sagrada Familia – all less than a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep. 

Inside, spacious rooms flaunt high ceilings, large windows and stylish decor, while contemporary amenities promise a want-for-nothing stay. We especially love the balcony. Offering leafy views, this is the perfect place to sunbathe. Home chefs will appreciate the fully-equipped kitchen, where a breakfast bar beckons for mornings roosted here, sipping quick coffees before slipping out for breakfast – we recommend the croissants from the little cafe downstairs.

Let's kick off with the location first with this home – it's fantastic. The apartment is within walking distance of Plaça de Catalunya and the Arc de Triomf, as well as all the restaurants and bars of Eixample. Culture lovers, on the other hand, can visit the nearby Picasso Museum and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. The apartment itself has a Juliet-style balcony with views over the La Rambla de Catalunya. We should point out that if you're a group of four, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the already compact living room. But that's probably a small price to pay for such a great address.

A Look at Barcelona

This elegant apartment is in the centre of Barcelona, 100 metres from Las Ramblas and a short walk from Plaza de Catalunya. Bars, restaurants and shops are all on your doorstep. Apart from a full kitchen and delightful dining room inside, there’s a private terrace for evening cocktails outside. In the living room, you’ve got a dedicated laptop desk for those that need to work remotely. Despite the central location, it’s pretty quiet as the rooms look out over the terrace rather than the busy street. 

When the City Sleeps

This wonderful home is located between the districts of the Gothic Quarter and Raval. It's right on the iconic Las Ramblas with its street performers, cafes, restaurants, markets and shops, and it's close to some more of Barcelona's most famous streets. Pedestrianised Calle Ferrán, which leads to the Barcelona City Hall and Plaça Reial, one of the city's most beautiful squares, are both nearby.

Back at this recently renovated apartment, we loved the characterful living space with its exposed brick walls, which are more than 200 years old and its high ceilings with wooden beams. The cute balcony is perfect for enjoying a glass of Cava while watching the comings and goings on Las Ramblas. This place is ideal for atwo couples or business professionals.

Built with respect for the environment, this bright home is an ideal base for eco-conscious guests looking for a comfortable, central stay in the city. While the home dates back to 1900, it’s been brought into sparkling 21st-style with an interior that reflects eco-design principles and respects Catalan Modernism. High ceilings, mosaic tiles, wooden framed French doors and upcycled furnishings create a beautiful, minimalist impression in the open-plan living room with a cool wooden kitchenette and dining table inviting Spanish feasts aplenty. The two bedrooms are equally pared-back and offer cosy beds as well as Juliet balconies with leafy views over your El Born neighbourhood. You’ll also have access to your host’s office and communal rooftop terrace on the eighth floor (during working hours) where hammocks invite you to spend sunny afternoons soaking up those Barcelona rays. Factor in the regular walking tours, wine tastings and food experiences your host organises for his guests, and you’re all set for a fun, culture-filled stay. Outside of your home, you’re just a five-minute walk from the Arc de Triomf, a nine-minute stroll from both Plaça de Catalunya and Ciutadella Park, while La Sagrada Familia is twenty-four minutes away on foot.

This Eastern-inspired home in Barcelona feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Step inside, and you'll instantly feel at ease, thanks to the neutral colour palette and simple yet stylish design. Two of Gaudí's most famous works, the Sagrada Familia and Casa Milà are within a fifteen-minute walk of your front door, and if you want to travel further afield then Verdaguer station is just five minutes away.

With a fantastic position in the middle of Eixample, this apartment puts you close to many of Barcelona's most famous sights. Even if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the city's streets, you'll be happy to return to this stylish home at the end of the day.

High ceilings and tall windows mean that the interior feels bright and airy, but there's also a Juliet balcony if you want to feel the breeze on your face at any point. There's a lot to like about the design too, with wooden furnishings and surfaces going nicely with the cool grey tiles and eclectic selection of objets d'art. We're fans of the exposed brickwork in the master bedroom, which adds a loft feel to the space, as well as the pristine subway tiling in the bathrooms.

When it comes to sightseeing, the place to start has to be Casa Milà, which lies five minutes' walk from the home. One of Gaudí's other famous creations, La Sagrada Familia, can be reached in twenty-five minutes on foot, too. The Gothic Quarter takes a similar amount of time in another direction.

We didn't expect to find a home like this in an unassuming building like the one that hides the Trojan Horse. It's obvious that an interior designer was involved in the curation of this stylish home — there's a consistent theme of industrial chic, that's best expressed by the bare brick wall and sleek lampshades. There's an abundance of natural light with two balconies extending the clutter-free and clean living space and helping this relatively small home maximise its assets. Find a sunny reading spot by the window on a Wegner-inspired chair and gather around the vibrant dining area for convivial coffee and churros – we loved the bright yellow chairs. Both bedrooms benefit from tasteful scatter cushions, throws and quirky headboards that make for a light and airy spot to relax with a magazine. From Gràcia, all the major sights are well within walking distance, including the Sagrada Familia under twenty minutes away. Explore the local neighbourhood, stopping off at its trendy cafes and family-run eateries – wherever you are, a jug of sangria and a plate of paella are never too far from hand.

We love the open plan living space with its high ceilings, exposed brick walls and stunning steel, open-tread staircase – this place has a cool, warehouse vibe. Elsewhere in the apartment, you’ll find traditional features such as barrel-vaulted ceilings and Spanish tiles. Open the French doors onto the balcony with its views over the neighbourhood, whip up a fideuà in the modern kitchen and enjoy a Catalan feast at your dining table. This apartment is perfect for a group of friends, a family or professionals on business in this vibrant city.

Located just off the famous Barceloneta beach, Windclass Blue is a solid home for those seeking a relaxing beachside retreat. In the evenings, the Port Vell's nearby promenade is filled with great restaurants and cafes, but if you walk the other way towards Poblenou, you won't be hungry either. This is a simple, luminous home, whose design is focused more on functionality than aesthetics. Still, the beautiful view and comfort make it a good option for a small family or a group of friends.

The balcony has a perfect people-watching view over the leafy boulevard below. The kitchen as black as backstage at a theatre and dramatically downlit, but it's not all style over substance as the cupboards are packed with everything you could want for self-catering. Should you need to catch up on work, the second bedroom doubles as an office. When it comes to clocking off you couldn't be better placed with Passeig de Gracia one block away, where Gaudí's masterpiece 'La Pedrera' and famous hotels like Omm and Hotel Casa Fuster reside. The apartment itself is in the 'Cuadrat d'Or' (Golden Square), an area packed with bars, restaurants and high-end shops galore.

Even though the balcony faces the street, the well-placed shutters keep it private and give the communal areas a touch of industrial design. Taffy teal is all about comfort and will help you relax in with luxurious soft furnishings, excellent appliances, and a marble bath.

Walk to the Casa Milà in under five minutes or be at La Sagrada Familia in just a fifteen-minute stroll. You really are in the beating heart of Barcelona here. When – full of sangria, paella and weary from all that shopping – you do return to your new home, you'll find an elegant living space with original artwork, sleek glass tables and a striking cowhide pouffe. There's a graceful yet cosy ambience around the home with ornate gold mirrors, comfy leather sofas and calming neutral tones. We really loved the chic and sociable breakfast bar in the kitchen area – it's the perfect spot for drinking your morning coffee while mapping out the day's itinerary. And with so much to see and do here, that may take some time.
