While space isn’t one of this home’s strong points – even a solo traveller might find the bathroom a bit of a squeeze – it has everything you need for a comfortable stay and benefits from an enviable position on the edge of downtown Aspen. And more importantly, having received a full makeover in 2022, it’s the kind of place you’ll be happy to come home to after an action-packed day on the slopes.

When there is snow, you can cross-country ski off your own back-door and into the yard. The location is quite rural which means ultimate seclusion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hit the slopes of Aspen for the day. We love that the home was built for a sustainable future, with geothermal heating throughout. Wish days away with a BBQ or roast s'mores on the fire. Not to mention the accompanying views of the sunset over the Elk Mountain range.

A beautiful mural by a local artist covers its facade – silhouetted shapes of the Rocky Mountains remind you of the powerful natural world surrounding this urban sprawl. Another reminder is your proximity to the South Platte River – you can join its walking trail just over 50 metres from your front door, and follow it to the lush greens of the waterside Commons Park. But enough about the delights outside, the interiors of this apartment are also worth getting excited about. Sophisticated and elegant, the wooden floors, pale grey sofa, and marble-topped table create a luxe yet calming vibe in the living space. With huge windows offering spectacular city scenes from every room, you might spend a lot of time gazing at the views (perhaps even with a local craft beer in hand). The double-height living room and the games room feature huge window walls, perfectly framing the scenery outside, while one of the best views comes from the kitchen, where you can gaze over the mountains as you whip up a meal and eat it out on the dining terrace (the sunsets and the views of the local Winter Carnival's fireworks display each year are amazing). If you're here to ski, you're just a three-minute drive to the mountain or a five-minute walk to the gondola, and you can store your kit in the home's garage. At the end of a day on the slopes or hiking in the hills, there's nothing better than a soak in the hot tub as the sun sets and the stars come out.
