Ten minutes from Kingston, this cosy home is the ideal base for outdoor adventures. Alongside hiking in the Catskills and swimming in the Hudson River, you'll be well-placed to explore Minnewaska, the Hurley Rail Trail, and even New York City – the latter is only a two-hour drive away. The rural location is ideal for unwinding, with a sprawling backyard offering plenty of room for pups and little ones to let loose. On chilly evenings, gather around the firepit or head indoors and snuggle up in front of the pellet stove. There's even a separate study for those planning to work from home – no wonder it caught our eye.

Home truths
While the second bathroom isn't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you – please speak to your host for more information.
There's a ground-floor bedroom here. While the home can sleep up to seven people with a single daybed in use, the maximum occupancy is six guests.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and children's toys on request.
We highly suggest hiring a car in this rural area. In winter, you'll need a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads. There's plenty of on-site parking available here.

The slower pace of life here is an excellent antidote to the frenetic energy of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The lush, ever-changing landscape is an attraction in itself, but the towns of the Hudson Valley offer a healthy dose of culture and history. This area...
