Situated right on the water in pretty Polruan, this cottage is quite a find. The terrace offers panoramic views of boats bobbing on the estuary, making it the perfect place for alfresco dinners and sunset drinks. Inside is utterly charming, with an eat-in kitchen, a cosy lounge with a fireplace, and a trio of comfortable bedrooms. Two can be arranged into twins if needed, and some boast their own waterfront panoramas. As for location, you'll have easy access to two beaches, coastal paths, and the ferry to Fowey. Just be sure to pack comfortable shoes – Polruan's steep hills and narrow streets make driving challenging, so travelling on foot is the best way to explore.

Home truths
Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you here.
Two of the bedrooms can be split into twins on request.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host provides a free cot, a high chair, books and toys, and a changing table.
There isn't any on-site parking here, and the narrow streets mean access by car is restricted. However, parking for one car in the village lot is included – just note that it's located on top of the hill. Polruan is situated on a steep slope, so expect to climb many stairs while you're here.
The steps to the beach are shared with two neighbours.
If you'd like to try crabbing, your host provides fishing rods, nets, and a basket. Beach essentials like towels, blankets, and snorkelling gear are also provided.

Local legend tells that Jesus visited Fowey in his childhood, and you can follow in his footsteps by visiting the commemorative Punches Cross. But Fowey hasn’t always been so holy – the small port was once a hotbed for smugglers and pirates. Check out Place House, which survived an attack by Breton pirates in the 15th century. The town sits at the mouth of the Fowey River, and its natural...
