In charming Cannaregio, this home is a great find for families and friends. The walled garden makes a striking first impression, with its outdoor dining area and cherub statues – we can't think of a better setting for alfresco breakfasts and evening tipples. Indoors, you'll find pastel-hued rooms and views of the Rio Della Sensa canal. The home is composed of two apartments divided by a stone staircase. Each level has its own lounge, kitchen, and two en-suite bedrooms. Although the area is a hidden gem without the usual tourists, you're just a thirty-minute walk from San Marco Square and the Bridge of Sighs.

Home truths

This home consists of two apartments spread across the ground and first floors. Each level has two en-suite bedrooms, a lounge, and a kitchen with a dining area – though the first-floor kitchen is quite small.

You'll need to climb a flight of stone stairs to reach the first floor.

You won't need a car in Venice. You'll be able to get around on foot quite easily in this location, though a stop for the vaporetto (water bus) is just a short walk away.

These days, it’s generally less crowded and has more of a traditional, laid-back feel to it, far removed from the tourist thoroughfares south of the Grand Canal. Venice's dwindling population is a well-known problem, but here you...
