There’s an air of graceful elegance to this home located in Rome’s Valle Aurelia neighbourhood, directly behind the Vatican. Bright and welcoming, you’ll immediately be drawn to the main open-plan living area where large glass doors lead out onto a private balcony. Enjoy your morning espresso here while catching up on the day’s news or sip sunset aperitifs before heading out for dinner at a local trattoria. With two comfortable bedrooms – one of which has a vanity desk should you need to catch up on work – you’ve got everything you need for a relaxing, care-free stay. Outside of your home, Vatican City with its famous Saint Peter's Basilica is a thirty-minute walk away, Monte Ciocci Park is a thirteen-minute stroll and thanks to the metro station that’s a four-minute walk away, you can be in Rome’s historic centre in less than thirty minutes.

Home truths

This home is located on the first floor and has lift access

The home has a private entrance

Free on-street parking is available, but we recommend skipping the car and using Rome's public transport instead – Valle Aurelia station is a four-minute walk away

You're in a wonderfully quiet part of the city but it takes a little longer to get to the historic centre of the city – the Pantheon is fifty minutes away on foot or thirty minutes by public transport

The host would prefer small children not to stay in the flat

The shortest route from the station takes you through a couple of streets that are quite deserted – it's nicer to approach from the main road

About Valle Aurelia

Valle Aurelia is directly behind the Vatican, but you’d never guess from the number of tourists. Perhaps the nickname, Valle dell’Inferno (Valley of Hell) is enough to put them off. Rest assured though, it’s not a comment on the place, rather a reference to the presence of enormous furnaces in the area, which were in use up until the 1920s. It was the heart of metalworking, clay firing and brickmaking in Rome for centuries, and this instilled a vibrant working-class character to the neighbourhood, which endures today.
