It's all about the location in this Santa Maria di Leuca home, a villa surrounded by olive trees and lush scrub. While we weren't enamoured with the interior, what with its tired-looking furniture and bare bedrooms, it's functional – and we don't think you're coming to be indoors all day, anyway. While there's no pool, the garden has a few nice spots to relax and dine, and you're just a short drive from the centre of town. Just beyond that is the gorgeous coast – perfect for a midday swim in the ocean.

This home was purpose-built for rentals, so it's not the most soulful or charming space.
The dining table in the kitchen and the alfresco dining area can only seat six people at a time, and the furniture looks a little tired.
While there is a hob and an oven, you won't find a microwave here.
There are a few steps leading up to the entrance, as well as stairs inside the home.
