Habitat has a lot going for it. Beyond the incredible location (Via di Monserrato is considered one of the most beautiful streets in the city), it’s in good condition, has high ceilings, excellent parquet floors, and whitewashed ceiling beams. The kitchen brings the average down a little – you wouldn’t want to plan on cooking a dinner party in there – but apart from that, it’s a very comfortable, practical flat.

Home truths
You'll have to take the stairs to the first floor, as there's no lift
Given the structure of the flat, it can get a bit dark in some parts of it
The kitchen feels very basic, and not all of the drawers fit properly
Nothing's provided in the way of minimal ingredients
The small balcony could do with a bit of attention
Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living room
You may find the supply of hot water here isn't enough for two people to shower at the same time
Due to the age of the building, you may encounter some drainage odour from the bathroom
Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay
The wi-fi can be temperamental here, so we think its best for those who want to switch off
