In the perfect position, between Baixa and Alfama, and with beautiful views across the city and down to the river, Pinocchio is a gem of an apartment. Telmo and his family lived here until recently, and you can tell from the way that everything is in the right place. There are none of those glitches that arise when a house was designed to be rented – it all just works. The stairs are the only thing to be aware of, but when given the opportunity to stay in a place as nice as this, you shouldn’t turn it down.

About Alfama

As Lisbon’s oldest neighbourhood, it’s not surprising that Alfama is also the corner of the city with the most character. Here, you’ll get an authentic taste of the real Portugal, away from the tourist-trodden trails of the centre. Unlike most of Lisbon, this area survived the famous 1755 earthquake, preserving an image of the old capital. Steep, cobbled streets are flanked with down-to-earth cafés, crumbling churches and intimate fado venues...

This home is managed by Telmo
