You can tell that someone who loves to travel owns this wonderful apartment – every corner features a charming curio collected from somewhere fabulous. The result is a stylish and eclectic home that’s the perfect base for a truly authentic Roman holiday. The crowds of tourists are kept at a slight distance, across the river. This apartment can be found in Prati, a neighbourhood that’s favoured by the well-heeled locals. There are bars, restaurants and shops all within a stone’s throw of the apartment building, and the Lepanto metro station is a mere eight-minute walk away so when you’re ready to see the sights, it’s as easy as can be. Start your day by tucking into pastries and coffee on the terrace. There are glorious views of the Vatican, which is just a twenty-four-minute walk away. Watch the streets below come to life while you plan how you’ll spend your stay. After visiting the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica, perhaps you’ll stroll to Sant’Angelo Bridge – it’s nineteen minutes away. Decide which of the restaurants you pass you’ll return to for dinner, and definitely indulge in a scoop or two of gelato. Depending on your stamina, everything is within walking... distance but in those peak summer months, you’ll be grateful for how easy it is to explore on the metro. The journey to the Pantheon takes twenty-one minutes. After a day spent touring around the historic sights, the apartment is a delightfully chilled-out space to return to. Sit on the terrace as the sun sets, sipping wine – city breaks don’t get better than this.

About Prati
Prati sits cheek by jowl with Vatican City - not that you would necessarily know from within. The newest of Rome's districts, built between 1873-1921, its road plan was designed so that none of the streets would have St. Peter’s Dome in the background, a reflection of the tension between the new Italian state and the Vatican during its construction. Once a verdant area of meadows, vegetable gardens and vineyards,...
