Walkability is a home with a clear advantage – staying in the centre of Baixa will give you easy access to all the famous sights, cafes, and restaurants in the area. The architecture is authentic, but the busy atmosphere might not be for those seeking a slice of quiet Portuguese life. Located in a beautifully renovated townhouse, this is a modern home where preserved architectural features mix seamlessly with the eclectic furniture. We loved the natural light in the living room and the urban view from the balconet, as well as the quiet bedroom that guarantees a good night’s sleep.

Home truths
Four guests can stay in this home, but the last two will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room
The bedroom window faces the interior of the building, which means there isn't a lot of natural light
We spotted a bit of water damage next to one of the living room windows
Although the kitchen is well-equipped with appliances, it doesn't have the basic cooking ingredients
The parking in the area is quite expensive

About Chiado
Chiado is full of old-world charm, and is one of the best-loved parts of Lisbon. Think pastel-hued homes, cobbled streets and plenty of squares to soak up the atmosphere. There’s a slower pace of life in Chiado, which is why it’s so popular with locals. Hop on a tram to take in the open-air ruin of the Camo church, a Gothic masterpiece that was mostly destroyed in an earthquake, or hit the shops – this is one of Lisbon’s best shopping districts, after all.
