By the village of Bolton Abbey, there's no denying that this 1744 farmhouse offers impressive valley views. Beyond the stone facade, this pet-friendly home has classic fireplaces, four-poster beds, and roll-top bathtubs, where the en-suites offer toasty underfloor heating. Outdoors, how about a post-barbecue soak in the hot tub? While the uneven track isn't a suitable driveway for low-slung cars, it's a proper taste of country life. Make sure to add the likes of Skipton Castle and Hesketh Farm Park to your itinerary.

About Lancashire
From Blackpool’s swirl of neon lights to the Forest of Bowland’s wind-whipped fells, Lancashire’s sights span the extremes of what Britain has to offer. Follow drystone walls along the Pendle Hill walk; slip through kissing-gates in fields of grazing sheep, over old wooden footbridges, eventually cresting the summit to humbling views across Lancashire and the Yorkshire Dales.
