As green as the tall pine trees that surround it, this hunting lodge is almost as impressive as the breathtaking natural landscape around Tahoe City. From vintage photographs to badminton rackets and hats, the entranceway is covered in playful artwork that gives you a real sense of the home’s character. Relax by the fireplace in the main living room, with its lofty ceilings and rustic decor, or head to the second lounge for a movie night and a couple of games of backgammon. We’re sure you’ll spend plenty of time floating in the outdoor pool or soaking in the hot tub, but nothing beats a bit of paddleboarding down at the peaceful Truckee river, moments from your door. The view of the stars from out on the Italian-inspired porch is awe-inspiring as it is, but for a real close-up, you’ll want to head to the first-floor balcony and have a peek through the telescope before heading to one of the six comfortable bedrooms for a blissful night’s sleep. For a day on the ski slopes, head to the nearby shuttle stop and ride to Squaw Valley resort.
