This corner of Oxfordshire is almost an idyllic little village in itself – at least that's how you'll feel when you first take in its mesmerising grounds. The buzz of dragonflies and scent of water lilies follow you around, from the private lake to the outdoor hot tub, and the secret woodland cabin is just one of the areas that adds a magical, Narnia-esque note. It's the perfect place for a family get-together or reunion with friends – host Penny even welcomes weddings. Of course, it's not just about the great outdoors here, with a living space that's impressive yet cosy, thanks in part to the beautiful fireplace with a basket full of wood. Setting the scene for lively group time, we love the Aga in the country-style kitchen and envisage the long oak table brimming with hearty homemade meals to enjoy together. And, for maximum opulence, the velveteen seats of your private cinema invite you to get comfortable as you watch your favourite blockbuster. A stay here is a fairytale you won't want to end.
