Sat majestically in the tranquil lowlands of Scotland, this fairytale castle is like nothing you'll have seen before. From the ornate ceilings and panelled walls, to the historic artwork that adorns almost every wall, the rich history of this 17th Century castle permeates the space. Of course, you don't get the whole place, that would be ridiculous. What you do get is the entire south wing, while the rest of the castle is the family home of the Maitlands who have owned it for generations (you're able to book one of the family to give your group the tour) and the wider estate is open to the public during the summer months. Booked as one, the south wing comprises four private apartments, with space for up to sixteen guests. Each has its own kitchen but the castle's Victorian kitchen can be used for communal dining. If you're planning a really special meal there's also the possibility of arranging fine dining in the castle's state rooms with an award-winning local caterer. The surrounding parkland is lush and expansive, perfect for long walks and a spot of wildlife watching. The hosts are even able to arrange your own private Highland Games. Or... why not ask about a whisky tasting event.

Rolling hills dotted with sheep, a patchwork of fields and the ribbon of the River Tweed cutting through the land make up this away-from-it-all part of the Scottish Borders. In the Ettrick Valley you’ll find the scenery that inspired shepherd turned writer James Hogg and rambles across the landscape are punctuated by ancient towers. Market towns like Hawick and Jedburgh were wool industry boom-towns back in the day and you...

Host
This home is managed by Oliver
This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Nearly twenty years ago, Oliver and his friend began curating the world's most unique and rustic getaways. Driven by their own unforgettable experience at a chateau, they have grown remarkably since then. Much like Plum, they believe in hand-picked luxury that doesn't break the bank.
