This traditional nineteenth-century villa has been restored to elevate its original features whilst also injecting contemporary luxury. The terracotta tiles, stone walls and chestnut beams hark back to its original use as a farmhouse, and the three-tiered candelabra in the living room is positively medieval. The family’s crest is still hewn into the grand fireplace. But there’s modernity just where you want it – the range-style cooker in the kitchen may be set in the old hearth, but it’s gas-powered and cooks like a dream, and there’s something distinctly 21st-century about the sleek day bed area at the bottom of the garden. The surrounding olive groves and farmland remain and create a beautiful backdrop to the villa, and there’s plenty to do outside to make the most of the Tuscan sun. The outdoor games, table tennis and infinity pool provide entertainment for all the family and there’s a full outdoor lounge beneath a wooden ceiling, complete with a stone grill. To get a broader experience of Tuscany, visit the nearby historical towns of Volterra and San Gimignano, both a forty-five-minute drive away, so perfect for a day trip or two.
