Set on the outskirts of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this cottage is a country retreat with a touch of luxury. Views of the rolling hills and Castle Carrock reservoir are plentiful from every room of the house, though best of all from the patio hot tub. If you fancy a bit more privacy, the deep free-standing tub is perfect for soaking away the stress. While it's tempting to lie back and do very little at this home, the surrounding area is full of outdoor activities. Try your hand at sailing, canoeing or fishing on the reservoir or follow one of the many walking routes that snake Eden Valley. If the weather isn't playing ball, all stays have complimentary access to the nearby leisure club, which has a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, swimming pool, and gym. Hadrian's Wall is less than a 30-minute drive, as is the city of Carlisle, which has several fascinating museums and a beautiful cathedral.
