Rejuvenate with sea views and fresh country air at this Grade II listed farmhouse nestled on the outskirts of postcard-pretty Berrynarbor and just a seven-minute drive from the coast. Having served the surrounding Devon farmland for hundreds of years, this traditional stone and slate barn has experienced quite a transformation in recent times, with a spectacular mezzanine bringing all the wow factor. In winter months, snuggle up by the wood-burning stove (the underfloor heating keeps things toasty too) or get together around the dining table. It’s an atmospheric place to spend many an evening with the lofty wooden beams overhead. When the sun shines, head out into the pretty garden to soak up those sea vistas from the raised terrace as you fire up the barbecue. There’s heaps of space for kids to run amuck on the lawns leading down to a babbling stream. And be sure to seek out the hammock squirreled away in the trees – it’s got your name all over it. When it’s time to get up and at ’em, nip into Berrynarbor with its characterful pubs and inns (just an eight-minute drive) and Ilfracombe with its beautiful fishing harbour (a ten-minute drive).
