Inside this dreamy bolthole for couples or solo travellers, the exposed wooden beams and stable door remain to show the bones of this cottage’s historical past, while everywhere else has been beautifully reimagined for elegant, modern living. The sociable living area, dining space, and kitchen are perfect for cooking up dinner, and there are all the goods for a cream tea in the generously-stocked welcome hamper. When the sun shines, grab a glass of something crisp and pad out onto the private, raised patio. With just vast open fields before you, it’s a serene spot to sit out in the fading evening sun as the local hares and muntjacs hop on by and the birds strike up their evening chorus. When it’s time to venture out for a meal, the nearest pubs can be found in Framlingham (be sure to check out the 12th Century castle there, too) or Earl Soham –⁠ both less than a ten-minute drive. And a little further, the classy seaside towns of Aldeburgh or Southwold (a half-an-hour drive) for their famed fish...
