From Poldark to Daphne du Maurier and Rosamund Pilcher, Cornwall has been the setting for many romantic brooding novels about passionate hearts and secret loves. Now, you can have your own Cornish romance in this charming cottage, a fifteen-minute walk from Padstow. Glorious sandy beaches surround this town, and it's known for fishing and the high-end restaurants of celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth too. Back at this home, whip up a Cornish cream tea in the modern kitchen with its metro tiles and breakfast bar and enjoy it at one of two outdoor tables (at the front or back) – our favourite is the front garden with its lawn and drystone wall. This lovely cottage is the perfect retreat for two.

During the summer holidays, the town’s colourful streets are packed with holiday-makers window-shopping, gathering around the boat-filled harbour, and enjoying seafood in its famous restaurants. The town has a communal feel in the warmer months, as restaurant and café tables spill out onto the harbour walls. It’s a fantastic choice for a trip to the English seaside, with working fishing boats still heading...
