Readers of Dwell magazine may recognise this magnificent 1820s manor house, perched at the edge of a pristine Catskills swimming creek and waterfall cascading over an ancient dam of hand-laid stone. This special home is the perfect place for family, friends or co-workers, providing a tranquil getaway just two hours from New York City. There’s much to admire here — from the hand-hewn ceiling beams, grand fireplaces and endless antique furniture to the soaring kitchen wall of skyscraper glass framing views of the water, gazebo, apple trees, and stunning barn. Paddle or dip the day away on the deep private creek enveloping the manor, then sink into sun loungers on the expansive covered porch suspended over the water's edge. When evening falls, gather in the kitchen for a night of wood oven pizza-making fun, then head out to the large fire pit at twilight to toast s’mores at the water's edge. Or put on an evening affair to savour, and ask your host to arrange for a private chef to put the gourmet kitchen through its paces and serve dinner by candlelight in the barn. Head over to the nearby town of Narrowsburg to discover unique shops, a quaint coffee... house and trendy eateries along the banks of the Delaware River. Skinner’s Falls and Lake Superior are both close by, but we won’t be surprised if you don’t want to leave the beautiful surroundings of your own private floating oasis.
