If you want a taste of the Austrian Alps without the throngs of skiers, heaving nightclubs and fully booked restaurants, this chalet in the tiny village of Puitbach is for you. A popular base for hikers during the summer, the home is part of a traditional cabin-like complex. Inside, an abundance of wood creates that snug Alpine feel, from planked walls to driftwood lamps. The living area is strewn with faux fur rugs and a comfy L-shaped sofa for cuddling up on cooler nights. Still chilly? Why not light the electric fireplace? The balcony has stunning views across the peaks – in warmer months, lace up your walking boots and get out there and explore. If you've come for the snow, a ski bus operates 100 metres from the building, and it's just a twenty-minute journey to the resort.
