Thrilling watersports, bountiful sunbathing opportunities and pastel-coloured conch houses await those who visit this scenic island city in the Florida Keys. Located on the sought after Elizabeth Street and encircled by mature palms and lush planting, guests can't help but feel like they've stumbled across their very own slice of paradise. Complete with a seasonally heated dipping pool, sun loungers, and a relaxing veranda, it's easy to imagine whiling away the hours here alfresco-style. But there's plenty of fun to be had inside too. Huge sliding glass doors cleverly bring the tropical ambience into the large open-plan lounge, where Dade County Pine completes the desert island sanctuary vibes. Of course, on this desert island, all your needs are catered for. The kitchen's white quartz countertops and top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances were designed for only the swankiest of dinner parties, while the lounge is an intimate space to shoot the breeze with friends. We're not usually one to bang on about ceilings, but this one is vaulted – meaning the living space is bathed in the kind of natural light artists dream of. Speaking of art, you'll find quirky flourishes all over this house from the unusual wall hangings to the... patterned cushions and rugs. Ornate lamps and fluffy chair covers create a feeling of opulence, which is continued in the four en-suite bedrooms. After a restful night's sleep, the rest of the island is easily explored by foot or bike. This street is bookended by buzzy waterfront bars and restaurants at one end and Key West Cemetery at the other (known for its tombstones engraved with snappy one-liners), so your itinerary can be as packed or as empty as you like.
