Normally when a child takes a felt tip pen to the wall, they're stopped at the earliest opportunity by a parent. However, if they were allowed to continue, perhaps they might create something as cool as this Glendale studio apartment. Every available surface in the living area is covered with doodles by the Las Vegas-based artist Pretty Done and against this striking monochromatic background, the flashes of colour from the house plants, gold artworks and dime-shaped window shutters really pop out. The only place where your eyes get a short break is in the hotel-standard bathroom, which is comparatively sober with its grey and marble tiling. The outside of the building has also been given the street-art treatment with a huge mural covering one of the corners. For those staying here that somehow want even more modern art, both The Broad and the Museum of Contemporary Art are just a ten-minute drive away.
