Do you have a question about this home or the local area?

Is there anything more quintessentially New York than exposed brick walls? We don't think so, and this studio flat in Gramercy Park delivers on that front. This apartment may be snug, but it has plenty of style – we're obsessed with the orange sofa, for instance – and the space is super cosy. There's even a patio with a lush outdoor sofa and a picnic table, which is rare for this part of town. When the weather is nice, sit out there with a glass of wine and soak up the sunshine, whiling away the sultry summer evenings. We're not going to deny that the kitchen is pretty compact, but that's all part of the charm of living like a true New Yorker. It's well-stocked with everything you need, but seeing as space is tight, we think you'll lean towards dining out. If that's the case, you're in luck – Gramercy Park has an array of upscale eateries and trendy bars for you to try. Also nearby is the farmer's market at Union Square – a fifteen-minute walk – which has fresh fruit and veg if you decide to rustle up a meal. This is a quieter spot, but it's...

We mean it when we say the kitchen is compact and narrow – we think it's better suited to rustling up quick meals as opposed to preparing full dinners

This area is in central Manhattan, so expect to hear sounds of traffic and construction

About Kips Bay

Kips Bay is a mainly residential neighbourhood, moments away from the rush of Midtown, which has lovely waterfront views across to Brooklyn and Queens. The neighbourhood combines historic brick townhouses with new high-rise apartments, and is home to some of the country's best hospitals - a good neighbourhood for the hypochondriacs amongst you perhaps? Some people accuse it of being non-descript and, it's true, it's definitely not going to win...
