Set on the side of a hill and overlooking the River Fowey as it meets the sea, this stunning home has views to die for. With a waterfront position, it looks out across the estuary from all the main rooms so you can watch the water from morning to night. In the little village of Polruan, you'll be just opposite the popular town of Fowey, known for its trendy shops and eateries. An unusual home, you enter from ground level to an immaculate and bright open-plan living room. Thanks to the slope, although it's ground level at the front of the house, you'll feel you've stepped into a top floor apartment when you see the views from the rear. With vaulted ceilings and skylights, the all-white space is modern and comfortable, with a smart kitchen, big dining table and cosy seating area. Patio doors open to a private deck – the perfect spot to sit back with a glass of wine and just take it all in. Downstairs you'll find all the bedrooms and bathrooms – three with river views – and outside you have access across the lawn to a small mooring on the waterfront. With a shop and...

Home truths

There's no parking available here – the road outside is very narrow but you can unload nearby and the host recommends that you buy a weekly ticket at St Saviour’s car park in Polruan

The garden doesn't come with the home but you have access across the lawn to the mooring – which is suitable for a small boat or kayak

There's a fixed stairgate but if you're bringing a small child there's no cot or high chair provided – the host can suggest a local hire company

A maximum of one dog is allowed – there's an extra £25 fee payable

There are 15 steep steps with a handrail leading down to the front door and a further set of steps leading down to the lawn level in order to access the waterfront – children should be supervised by the water
