Although this late-Victorian mansion has recently been renovated, a sense of grandeur remains. This is certainly the case in the living room, which has high ornate ceilings, an original fireplace and huge windows that look out to the garden — it's easy to imagine the nobility of yesterday passing their time in here. In addition to this, there's a games room with a full-size billiards table and a formal dining room overlooked by paintings. On sunny days, throw open the French doors in the kitchen and take a stroll around the manicured garden, which has a summer house, barbecue and plenty of alfresco seating. If the weather is playing ball, there are distractions to enjoy in every direction. The beach town of Scarborough takes just over ten minutes to reach in the car, while Whitby is half an hour's drive to the north. Likewise, the North York Moors sits just behind the home and offers lots of hiking trails.
