Warm and utterly cosy, there's so much we love about this retreat in the Catskills we don't know where to start. For one thing, there's plenty of room for a family to make themselves at home. With a sprawling great room – featuring wooden beams, high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves – and a separate snug, parents and kids can both have a space to call their own. The country kitchen is the heart of the home – it opens onto the dining room, which has a long rustic table and a wood-burning fire. It's the perfect spot to gather for family meals in the evenings, and the kitchen itself has everything you need, including a KitchenAid mixer and plenty of crockery. During the summer, you'll spend all your time out in the garden, looking out at the nearby mountains and basking in the peaceful surroundings. After a swim in the in-ground pool, grill up a storm and unwind by the fire pit. Your hosts can also arrange extras like at-home yoga, wine tastings and a private chef to make your stay extra special. This home is minutes from Phoenicia's Main Street, so you're not far from a market and a... few eateries, though there are even more options if you make the twenty-minute drive into Woodstock. And this area is a hub for hiking, so be sure to pack your walking shoes if you want to hit the trails.
