Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
There are some homes that are sure to give you bragging rights when it comes to conversations with friends and this is one of them. After all, how many people can say they've stayed in a Grade-I listed castle that was built in the twelfth century? Sure, it's only one wing of the building, but it's still suitably regal inside. The living room is full of plush red furnishings and rugs, antique wooden furnishings and a chandelier hanging overhead ― it's very much inspired by an aristocratic era when the concept of minimalism didn't exist. The kitchen is both large and traditional in style, while two of the bedrooms have four-poster beds for the full royal experience. Add to that two claw-foot bathtubs and you have the ingredients for a truly relaxing stay. Saying that, there's plenty of ways to wear yourself out around these parts. The home sits between the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so there's no shortage of hiking routes. Even closer, there are pubs, restaurants and an art gallery in the town of Appleby-in-Westmoreland, around five minutes away on foot.
