Once owned by Jane Austen's brother Henry, this elegant townhouse made an appearance in her famous novel "Sense and Sensibility". Designed with phenomenal attention to detail, it’s an imaginative and glamorous re-interpretation of a Regency home, inspired by what’s known about Henry and Eliza’s life in this house. Think sumptuous plum velvet drapes, crystal chandeliers and unique antiques sourced from around the world. When you’re done admiring all the stunning details (if that’s even possible), we recommend you read the selection of newspapers while you savour a glass of Bollinger Champagne in the sitting room or try one of the luxury teas – both are courtesy of your lovely host (they also provide a daily breakfast). In the evening, why not have a stylish candlelit dinner party in the Georgian style kitchen with its bespoke cabinets and large table? Let the private chef cater for you as you sit back, relax and enjoy the delicious food. It's hard to pick our favourite part of this home, but with persuasion, we'd go for the room named after the lady of the house, Eliza, with its canopied four-poster bed and chaise longue – ideal for lounging with a good book, perhaps “Emma”.... But wait a minute… We also love the cocktail bar modelled on a period railway carriage, complete with British artisan spirits (what more could one possibly need?). There's a balcony as well, so you can have an alfresco lunch. This abode is a wonderful setting for a family celebration or special reunion with friends. If all of this wasn't enough – the location is fabulous too. With its chic restaurants, bars, and boutiques, Marleybone is just over ten minutes on foot, while the Sherlock Holmes Museum is under a twenty-minute walk away.
