While its bones date back to the 16th century, this cosy stone barn couldn’t be more up-to-the-minute. Contemporary-comfort is the watchword here – expect eco-friendly heating, snuggly faux fur throws and Egyptian cotton sheets. Spend cooler mornings curled up on the sofa with a hot mug of tea, toasting your toes by the fire. When it warms up outside, potter around the sleek kitchenette, putting together a light lunch to be enjoyed in the sunshine. Take your plates over to the picnic bench and soak up the sights and sounds of the countryside. Once you’re ready to explore, tie your laces tight and set out on a stroll through the Manifold Valley to Thor’s Cave – it’ll take you around fifty minutes at a leisurely pace. Or, jump in the car and take the forty-minute drive to Matlock for peaceful walks along the river. Head home in the late afternoon for a barbecue and a glass of fizz, ready to watch the sun set over the Peak District.

About The Peak District

The Peak District is England and Wales’ oldest national park, and its varied landscapes are a clue as to why the region was the first to be bestowed with the distinction. The park’s diversity can be appreciated by taking the time to explore both the so-called Dark Peak to the north, where you’ll find acres of moorland stretching out in front of you, and the limestone gorges and valleys of...
