This penthouse apartment sits just beyond the Spanish Steps, with a fabulous view of the domes and shambling rooftops at Rome’s ancient heart. Leaning over the wrought-iron railings of the huge terrace you can look out over the Piazza di Spagna, crowned with the Spanish Steps. Just beneath you is Via dei Condotti – Rome’s famous shopping street. Sitting at the top of an old building, the penthouse opens up to its own terrace, with glass sliding doors blending indoors with outdoors. Outside, you can take breakfast under the shade of a striped awning or unwind on the plush sofa section. The lounge is a grand medley of peacock greens and blue, velvet sofas and a sparkling chandelier. There’s a formal dining room with a round table for six, and a full kitchen should you fancy cooking something yourself. Bedrooms are hotel-standard plush with seating areas in royal purple, and some have dedicated desks should you need to get some work done.

About Spagna

Spagna is, perhaps unsurprisingly, focussed around the eponymous Piazza di Spagna. Along with the Trevi fountain, it’s one of the most visited sights in the entire city. Things weren’t always so auspicious – in the 16th century, the area was Rome’s red light district, but today it’s better known for the vine-covered romance of Via Margutta, home to Gregory Peck's impoverished journalist in Roman Holiday. This is not the place...
