Part of the Dove House estate, this timber-framed and plastered farmhouse dates back to the 14th century and is set on an equestrian stud with its own lake and footpaths, meaning it's an ideal stay for those looking to relax in the beautiful rolling countryside. Located just half an hour's drive from the Suffolk Coast & Heaths AONB, you've got the option to explore too. Although as much as we adore the rural location and picturesque grounds, our eye was immediately drawn to the large heated pool. Whatever the weather, you'll be able to swim a few morning up and downs or simply float about, breathing in the fresh farm air before breakfast. Stepping inside to set the dining room table, you'll find original wooden beams and flagstone flooring with plenty of visual interest and rustic charm. The kitchen-come-dining area is a blend of tradition and modernity from the country-style navy blue kitchen, complete with a range cooker and a serving hatch, to the colourful rug and Eames-style dining chairs at the round table. Elsewhere, you'll find sofas, armchairs, and an inglenook fireplace and log burner in the living room, a wicker sofa looking out to the pool and courtyard... through French doors in the vaulted reception, and even a 'royal box' in the upstairs sitting room with views over the stud and valley beyond, so guests will always have a comfortable space to unwind. Take your afternoon constitutional through the home's enclosed terraced gardens, keeping an eye out for the thoroughbred mares and a small herd of pedigree Hereford cattle in the fields beyond. You can walk along the river bank or head out on various public footpaths nearby if you're in the mood to wander.

About Hadleigh
This ancient market town is nestled in Constable Country – a beautiful area of Suffolk that inspired the 18th-century artist’s most famous works. Hadleigh itself is packed full of character, with historic buildings and independent shops aplenty. Sandwiched between Sudbury and Ipswich, it may not be as well-known as its more prominent neighbours, but with its mixed architecture and picturesque valley setting, this quieter area still has lots to offer....
