Step through an archway of silver-sheened olive trees and vine leaves to reach this peaceful home on the unspoiled island of Kea. Perched above the Panagia Kastriani Monastery, the five-bedroom villa enjoys exquisite views of the ancient structure and the hazy sea beyond. You'll feel the revitalising embrace of this home as soon as you enter – the calming palette of off-white and sage green compliments rather than competes with the beautiful surroundings. Characterful furniture sets the space apart (we're looking at the artist's easel, in particular), while painted wooden beams nod to traditional Grecian homes. The island's main town, Ioulida, is a short drive away. Here, you'll find a sprinkle of colourful buildings clustered on the side of a hill. Make sure you visit the Lion of Kea, an archaic sculpture that's shrouded in mystery. The smiling animal is thought to make reference to Kea's mythology, but its exact meaning and creator remain unknown.
