Lie low at this Tudor farm cottage, on the doorstep of a 400-acre nature reserve in the glorious Lincolnshire countryside. Built in 1510 and lovingly restored using traditional handcrafts by the owners, the cottage fuses heritage architecture and cosy countryside living to perfection. The devil really is in the detail here – from the freshly cut flowers to the gourmet breakfast baskets and afternoon tea spreads (both bookable for an additional fee). Embrace the great outdoors with a guided reserve tour and spot the wild Exmoor ponies that roam this magnificent landscape – there are wellies and raincoats to borrow should the weather take a turn. Try your hand at archery and axe throwing lessons. Then reward yourself with an evening of pampering at the farm estate's on-site spa (think Cleopatra copper milk and flower baths) – it's just a thirty-second walk from your door. When it comes to the day's end, enjoy long summer nights in the 18th century walled garden beside the firepit. Take things inside to cook up a feast in the shaker-style kitchen, complete with an Aga stove. Break out the home's board games beside the crackling fire. Or head out to nearby South Ferriby for upper crust grub... at it's award-winning pub – just a fifteen-minute drive away.
