Just because there are only two of you in your travelling party — or even just one — that doesn't mean you have to settle for somewhere compact or cramped. This barn conversion in the middle of the Warwickshire countryside is simply lavish when it comes to space. This is most obvious in the double-height living-dining room, which benefits from floor-to-ceiling windows on either side that are especially generous with natural light. Open up the glass doors and you'll find a couple of seats in the outside courtyard on which you can enjoy your morning coffee, but it's just as easy to get cosy inside thanks to the wood-burning fireplace, plus the collection of board games and tables for pool and foosball. Elsewhere, the blue kitchen is both well-equipped and dominated by sleek granite surfaces. Upstairs, there's another lounge on the mezzanine level, as well as a glamorous bedroom accessed via satin drapes and a chic bathroom. Although the style throughout is certainly contemporary, a few original features can be spotted throughout, such as the wooden beams and exposed stonework. There's definitely a sense of seclusion at the home and the nearest village — and its pair of pubs — take twenty-five minutes... to reach on foot. A little further afield, Warwick Castle takes just under a quarter of an hour in the car, while Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-Upon-Avon, is more like twenty.

About Stratford-upon Avon
Travel north of the Cotswolds and you’ll start to find yourself in the Midlands. This network of historic towns and industrial cities often gets overlooked in favour of the easier-to-define North and South, but there’s plenty going on if you know where to look. Stratford-upon-Avon is the largest draw in the area, and understandably so. Shakespeare’s birthplace is not only noteworthy due to its connection with the bard, but it’s...
