Blessed with a truly wonderful location in the centre of Florence, this apartment knows it can't compete with the illustrious architecture and artworks that lie nearby, so keeps it comparatively simple. That being said, there's very little to pick fault with inside. The wood floors, neutral colour scheme and bold pieces of modern artwork all lend a contemporary edge, while the high ceilings and wooden beams are the only nods to the city's long history. Admittedly, the kitchen leans more on the space-efficient side, although this won't be a problem if you're hoping to get acquainted with the local culinary tradition. As well as plenty of restaurants within walking distance, the immediate area is similarly lavish when it comes to galleries, with both Palazzo Strozzi and Museo Novecento taking less than five minutes to reach on foot. The famous Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore is only an eight-minute walk, too.

About Santa Maria Novella
Tucked inside the thirteenth century boulevard that marks out the oldest part of Florence, this neighbourhood is on the western edge of Florence’s historic centre. The Piazza Santa Maria Novella, with its Gothic church and museum, is the centrepiece, and while the area immediately surrounding the train station is fairly gritty, it’s a convenient spot for those just passing through. Though Santa Maria Novella is not directly in the middle...
