The Acropolis of Athens has been many things to many people over the centuries – a home to kings, a citadel, and tourist attraction, but it used to also be the site where a procession for an ancient festival called the Great Panathenaea culminated. Lucky for you, you don’t have to take part in any sort of olympic games to get a view of the protected UNESCO World Heritage site, you can keep an eye on it just fine from your spot on this home’s breathtaking rooftop terrace. Albeit from within the hot tub or your place on a sunlounger, the views from up top are truly spectacular, and truly the crown jewel of this penthouse. The rest of the home is not to be written off though, the simple, but clean design creates a relaxing atmosphere - easily prepare lunch in the sleek kitchen and spend mealtimes around the dining table that has a different view of the city. On cooler nights you’ll find yourself drawn to the cosy corner sofa, and we recommend lighting the wood-burning stove and hunkering down with a good book and a glass of red. As if the rooftop terrace isn’t enough, there’s also... a balcony space that’s so easily accessible, it’s just begging for you to watch a sunrise from it. Although it’ll be difficult, tear yourself away from the comforts of this home to try some of the local cuisine, and with plenty of other historical landmarks around, go forth and explore knowing this home will be waiting for you at the end of the day.

In the narrow streets of the city, you’ll find Byzantine churches, adorned with ancient mosaics, tucked in between street food restaurants serving gyros wraps and bakeries serving spanakopita.
