Sitting on a pretty Provencal hilltop, this chateau doesn't waste this prime location. Step behind the formidable stone walls – some of which date back to the 12th century – and you're greeted with expansive rooms packed full of luxurious touches. The arched windows and glass doors at the end of the open living room are nothing but generous when it comes to natural light, making for a lovely space in which to dine or lounge. Upstairs, the bedrooms and bathrooms are similarly lavish, especially the teak-wood four-poster beds and bathtub overlooking the outdoor space. Speaking of which, the alfresco space at the address is pretty special, too. Overlooked by 800-year-old gargoyles, there's a small swimming pool lent a little tropicality from the neighbouring palm trees. The built-in charcoal barbecue makes it easy to whip up feasts in the summer months, as well. When it comes to getting to know this famous region a little better, the local village of Aragon can be reached easily on foot and has some renowned restaurants for you to enjoy.
