On the edge of Palermo’s central, historic old town, this apartment feels like a little ray of sunlight. Perhaps it’s the double French doors, allowing light to stream into the open living area, or the golden accents of picture frames and Asian-inspired artworks. We love the furnishings, which feel distinctly Italian in their provenance, like the hand-painted cabinet in the living room and olive-green velvet sofas. Glass sliding doors separate the kitchen from the double-height living room and wood-beams run along the ceiling. For a breath of fresh air, head out to the small wrought-iron balcony overlooking the street below. Then there’s the location itself. You’re a five-minute walk from Ballarò market to stock up on fresh produce and pause for an evening spritz. The pavement-café-filled piazza della Vergogna is just six minutes away on foot and it’s less than a fifteen-minute walk to the beautiful Cathedral of Palermo.
