In cities across the globe, it's more often than not true that the closer a home is to the centre, the less likely it is that it'll have any outdoor space. This apartment in the middle of Lisbon bucks this trend – not only does it have a private terrace with an alfresco dining table, but guests also get access to a communal garden that's blessed with bountiful amounts of plant life. While these respective spaces are an explosion of colour, the home's interior is much simpler by contrast. The walls and ceilings are painted stark white, which makes it feel instantly bright and welcoming. There's a minimalist approach to furnishings and decoration, although the kitchen that could kindly be described as space-efficient perhaps embraces this trend a little too much. Aside from that, there's very little to fault with this simple but elegant home. To top it all off, the location is excellent regardless if you're visiting Lisbon for the first or fiftieth time. Both Museu Nacional do Azulejo and Castelo de São Jorge can be reached in around twenty minutes on foot, albeit in opposite directions, while Praça do Comércio takes all of eighteen minutes to reach on the tram.
