Sitting in the rural Andalusian town of Cómpeta, there's something instantly soothing about this villa. The sweeping views of treetops and Spanish mountains may be part of the reason, but most of the credit has to go to the relaxing outdoor space. Here, it's possible to while away warm afternoons bouncing between the swimming pool, leafy gazebo and covered terrace. Stepping inside the home, you'll notice that the design is rustic in style, with ceiling beams and whitewashed walls playing host to wooden furnishings and a wood-burning fireplace to curl up next to when nighttime comes round. However, there are bursts of character that separate this home from the pack, like the trompe l'oeil fresco next to the dining table. When you're in the mood to see a little more of the local area, you can wander the traditional streets of Cómpeta to find restaurants and bars, while there are walking routes and scenic points galore in the Sierras of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park, starting from ten minutes' drive away. Just over half an hour in the car due south will take you to the golden sands of Playa de Torrox.
