Check into this deftly designed urban pad, set right in the beating heart of Lisbon along a shady tree-lined avenue and close to Entrecampos Train Station. Inside, we're into the rattan accents, objets d'art, and an array of house plants that subtly introduce a natural world theme to the home. But the clincher for us are those two balconies leading off the living area and bedrooms. Grab yourself a freshly brewed coffee (the pod machine can help with that) and pad across the cool parquet wooden floor onto the terraces to watch Lisbon's streets awaken below. Then throw together a quick breakfast in the kitchen area and join your fellow guests for a morning planning session around the wooden dining table. When it's time to set off exploring, art lovers should make a visit to Museu Calouste Gulbenkian (a short walk away) a priority, famous for its epic collection of Eastern and Western art. Then carry on to Parque Eduardo VII with its sweeping views to the rivers – there's no better place to drink up the vistas of this electrifying city.

About Alvalade

If you didn’t know Alvalade before, you’ll definitely leave raving about it. Technically on the outskirts of Lisbon, this district is a hidden gem away from the bustling centre. It’s away from the seven hills, so it’s blissfully flat – you can explore by bike or on foot without the cardio workout of the rest of the city. It’s also residential, so you get that neighbourhood feel – think families...
