It sits in the Gironde department, in a position ideal for visiting both Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion, though you may find yourself entirely content to stay put. The home is set within 52 acres of grounds with walking and jogging trails, and your host can even arrange for you to go horse-riding. The estate also boasts its own vineyard, so wine tasting is a must. We love the swimming pool and the terrace for alfresco dining, and the tennis court will be popular with more active guests. This is a traditional home so the decor won’t suit those seeking a sleek, modern space.

• Your host can help arrange a variety of extra services during your stay, including massages and beauty treatments, wine tours, laundry and dry cleaning, fridge fills, breakfast, cooking classes, restaurant reservations, private chefs, additional cleaning, on-site horse riding, guided tours, airport transfers, and car hire.

• If you’re travelling with children, your host may be able to organise babysitting services – alternatively, a live-in nanny may be able to be arranged at a cost of £475-£670 per week.
