If walls could talk, this quintessential Cotswold cottage in the bucolic village of Blockley sure would have some stories to tell. Dating back to the 1860s, this former home to the local silk mill weavers oozes period charm from every nook and cranny. Carefully renovated by the current owners, exposed Cotswold stone walls, oak beams, mullion windows, and flagstone floors remain – though that open-plan and surprisingly spacious kitchen and garden room are firmly into the 21st century. Filled with freshly cut flowers and a farmhouse-style dining table at its heart for catchups over meals, the kitchen couldn’t feel more welcoming – and wait until you get that wood-burning stove fired up. In need of some quiet time? You can always sneak away to the sitting room upstairs with a bookcase stacked full of classics and guidebooks – those oh-so-sinkable sofas have got afternoon dose written all over them. Or take things outside into the garden to soak up the sunshine and postcard-perfect views across the Blockley Valley. When it’s time to cast your nets further afield, this home is the perfect base to explore the many wonderful Cotswold towns and villages, including Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Campden. Though you may find all... the olde worlde charm you’re chasing right here in Blockley, with its two country pubs and a community-owned village shop and café for lashings of tea and cake and a warm welcome.
