Embrace the history is Hvar Town at this 17th-century villa. It was built in 1612, in old Venetian style during the baroque period – think intricately carved stone balconies and wooden shutters – and was owned by one of the oldest Italian families in Hvar. To this day, it’s protected by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments. It sits in the heart of Hvar Town, where the balustraded stone balconies look out over the buzzing old harbour. The waterfront is just a few footsteps away. On the private terrace, a swimming pool awaits in an old gothic-style house. Thanks to glass folding walls, the pool can be indoor or outdoor. The Mediterranean gardens are secluded by high stone walls and terraces are shaded by fig and citrus trees. Dotted around the gardens, you’ll find loungers, outdoor dining and bistro seating fringed with fragrant lavender bushes. Heading inside, there’s a private spa on the ground floor, complete with a massage room, hot tub and sauna. Gym equipment is available for those that want to keep on top of their fitness schedule. Upstairs, the big kitchen is a classic farmhouse style and there’s enough room for the group to dine in...

The surrounding Venetian-style streets date back to the days of spice merchants and sailors, and...
