The town of Dolgellau is among the most picturesque in Eryri and much of that is down to the abundance of stone homes dotted across the map, including this cottage. It may look rustic at first glance but step behind the front door and you'll find a pretty contemporary address – save for the traditional stone fireplace in the living room, which we're glad has been retained. Otherwise, the design is fresh and bright, with plenty of perks – the small games room will keep youngsters entertained for a couple of hours at least, while grown-ups can perhaps make the most of this tranquillity with a soak in the pink bathroom's tub. However, if the weather's on your side, you can choose instead to head outside and luxuriate in the Jacuzzi on the terrace. You can also dine out here, complete with a view of Cader Idris to keep you company. This mountain peak is one of many in the surrounding National Park that are easily reachable for long rambles, but it also only takes twenty minutes to reach the Barmouth seaside if you're ever in the mood for a beach day.
