Lying within the verdant hillsides just outside of Bologna, this stone and plaster villa might look rustic on the outside but don't be deceived – this is a home for those that appreciate the finer things in life. You only have to look at the large and colourful garden to see what we mean. Sitting in the middle is a swimming pool sure to be appreciated on hot summer afternoons, neighboured by loungers and not just one, but two hot tubs. Come dinner time, the alfresco table under the pergola is a wonderful spot for feasting while the sun goes down overhead. The interior design lies on the contemporary side of things, with a soothingly bright colour palette, a chic taste in furnishings and a minimalist kitchen heavy on sleek surfaces. We have especially kind words for the bedroom suites, which have a refined elegance more typically seen in high-end hotels. But wait, there's more. The villa sits within a large estate which has a wealth of communal amenities that guests can take advantage of, ranging from three restaurants and seven outdoor pools to opportunities for wine tasting in the cellar. The distinctive architecture and cultural institutions of Bologna are only 22km away,... too.

This is particularly noticeable in the old town where you can also visit Bologna’s famous porticoes. Constructed in the Middle Ages,...
